• The life process is end when the causes are removed

    The life process is the main cause of suffering and it comes to exist because of ignorance and craving. Why ignorance and craving are the fundamental of the birth cycle?
    It is because of the obscurity of the truths, that’s why we are always experience sufferings all the time. The Buddha said when we have absolutely removed all ignorance; we will reach out to the final goal (nirvana).
    Craving is said to have played a very important role in the birth process. In (Samyuthanikaya) the Buddha said that, there are three kinds of craving, which are the fundamental of process of life and sufferings.
    What are they?
    They are;
    1- kamma tanha = craving for senses
    2- bhavatanha = craving for becoming(existence)
    3- Vibhavatanha = craving for non-becoming

    Because of we are lack of knowledge on the teaching of the Buddha, people always think of the way to find happiness, but they don’t know that happiness or pleasure is in the cycle of suffering. When people experience pleasant through the five senses, they consider that pleasant as their happiness. Of course it is true. But the Buddha said “This happiness is not everlasting” it is impermanent. It is exactly unstable, because when the eyes, ears, noses, tongue, body, mind, get contact with forms, sound, smell, tastes… as pleasant, we know that, it is pleasant, then we realize that it is of course happiness. When one received forms, sound, smell… as unpleasant we realize that it is sufferings. On the one hand when one gets rich, he is happy. When one gets something as he or she wished, they are happy. On the other hand when one loses something as be loved one or disassociate the beloved one, he or she gets a very serious disappointed (suffering). So nothing to do more than to realize the truths that everything is this world is impermanent and we have to accept the truth, thus everything in this world are subject to change, suffering, non-soul.
    Some people make meritorious deeds with the wish to be born in the heaven. This is one of the three Tanha. We all know that Tanha is the main cause of suffering. But in this point if we look at in the society, it is better than some people that hold the idea of Non-existence. Because these kinds of people still believe that there is next birth and they try to collect the good deeds as their vehicle to the next world and it is better than the people who do nothing with the meritorious deeds. But there is no end with this view as they will go over and over again in this existence. Because the root of ignorance is not yet removed.
    Some people in this world make meritorious because of non-becoming. For those people who have held the idea of non-existence, they do make merits through their ability, but the purpose is to get rid of the next birth. These three kinds of craving are based on the ignorance, so we have to cultivate our knowledge to overwhelm this ignorance to go over to the cessation of suffering. So, as we are Buddhist, we have to know what’s the teaching of the Buddha and how to practice his teaching correctly.
    After the enlightenment of the Buddha, when he was sitting under the Bodhi-tree, on the first week, he was contemplating on the Dependent Origination as the root of his birth and suffering.
    In the Mahákhadaka, the Buddha said as;
    Avijápaccaya Samkhara …….Bhavo bhavapaccayá jati….Ignorance bears (cause) formation……Becoming bears birth, decay, death…So every human being which are coming to this existence exactly because of Ignorance, and as it is depends on each and every one of those.

    It is called Ignorance because, unable to understand the truth of the world.
    So what are the truths of the world?
    The reality of the world is called Tilakkana.
    Because it is the norm of the world.
    Why it is called norm of the world?
    Because everything in this world are subject to that condition.
    Tilakkana

    1. Anicca = impermanent
    2. Dukkha = suffering,
    3. Anata = selfless.
    It is called impermanent because, it is subject to change, to decay, to death.
    E.g. when the first time, we are born we cannot walk but as the time pass by we are grown old, then we are able to walk when we are about 2-3 years old. Then when we are 50-60-70 or more than that we will not be able to walk as we are adults, and our eyes can’t see things properly, our strong start to loose. We will feel that Oh, my strength, my legs, my hands cannot perform their duties as we expected. We don’t satisfy with our organs, and suffer from that condition. Because it is always change and cannot be ceased that is why we call Anata. If we can control those condition, not to change, not to decay, not to old, then we can say that it is belong to us but it is not like that. So when we get to understand the truth like that, we will scare of the this life process. And we will think of a way to get out of this cycle.
    The Buddha pointed out about the way to stop this life process by learning the Noble Truths and by practicing the Noble Eight fold paths.
    By realizing;
    Rebirth is suffering
    Ignorance is the cause of birth
    Nirvana is the peace, no more birth, no more suffering
    Noble eight fold paths are the way to end of birth and suffering.

    What is the Noble Eight Fold Paths?

    The Noble eight fold paths are the way to end the suffering if people take it practice correctly they will reach out to the Nirvana.
    They are as follow;
    1- Right view
    2- Right intentions
    3- Right speech
    4- Right action
    5- Right livelihood
    6- Right effords
    7- Right mindfulness
    8- Right concentration.
    When people clearly understand the Noble truth and practice these eight Noble Paths finally they will find the way the stop the life process. When their minds are not over-powered by the defilements, then they will be able to remove the causes of life process...
    I don’t have to explain each and every one of those because the page is limited so I am going to conclude the essay.
